Elaine is a classically trained violinist and harpist, private music instructor and performer. She has been a musician for over 20 years and the owner of a private music studio since 2001. What began as a small home studio has grown to servicing three counties with private teaching locations.
Elaine studied violin for over 9 years with 5 different instructors, most recently studying under the direction of Thomas LeVeck, retired Millikin University instructor. Her studies included working in ear training, classical repertoire and Suzuki violin. Elaine was a member of the Suzuki Young Musicians Program at the University of Evansville on violin. She was first violinist with the Olney Central College String Ensemble for two years and played first violin with the Southeastern Illinois College Orchestra on several occasions. Her harp studies have included private instruction with Dr. Erzsébet Gaál Rinne, studying the Kodály method of harp performance and harp pedagogy at the University of Evansville.
As a private instructor, Elaine's desire is to instill a passion in her students for learning to play beautiful, orderly music, and enjoying the instruments they play. Lessons focus on a wide range of music styles from Classical, traditional hymns, Scottish and Irish, to bluegrass, fiddle, and folk music. Students are given the opportunity to perform in a yearly recital, as well as share their music at other events in the community.
As a performer, Elaine provides music for weddings, showers, benefit dinners, fine dining, churches, holiday events, assisted living facilities and many other occasions. Elaine's father, Richard, plays acoustic guitar with her at many events as well.
